The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) founded the Technology Transfer Centre (CTT) to provide support to its research centres and to companies in their research activities, and to promote technological innovation.

It was created in 1987 and currently manages the research and technology transfer activities of the University’s research groups. It also acts as an intermediary for companies that seek to carry out joint innovation projects with the UPC.
The CTT is part of the UPC, a public higher education and research institution that specializes in architecture, science and engineering. The UPC provides high quality education that is based on innovation, interdisciplinarity and internationality. In addition, widely recognized basic and applied research is carried out at this institution.
The UPC’s involvement in research, development and innovation is demonstrated by its high level of technology and knowledge transfer to companies and society. It is an institution without borders that is open to the world and involved in strategic international networks.

The UPC is based in several Catalan towns. It has 16 schools, 7 associate schools, 40 departments and the following additional resources:
Over 170 research groups
Over 2,650 teaching and research staff
Over 1,360 administrative and service staff
Over 20 R&D centres in which it has a stake
13 libraries with a collection of over 530,000 documents
Over 35,000 students
